Four Cups, Four Roles

Each of the four cups has a different role:
  • First Cup: Kiddush to sanctify the holiday.
  • Second Cup: Sanctifying the hagada.
  • Third Cup: Sanctifying Birkat ha'mazon.
  • Fourth Cup: Sanctifying Hallel.
