Purposes of Commandments/Mitzvot

Commandments/mitzvot (plural of mitzva) have three main purposes:
  • Most importantly, to do what we are commanded by God to do;
  • To bring us close to God;
  • To earn reward for us in the future world (olam ha'ba).
